AC Fluid Recycler
A sleek, manufacturing-ready redesign of an AC recycling unit for a major automotive tool distributor.
The problem
A major automotive tool distributor was refreshing its AC recycling unit and had an industrial designer create the new look. A concept surface is not a part: someone still has to turn the designer's vision into a housing that can actually be molded, assembled, and fitted around the working machine inside.
What we built
That translation. We engineered the CAD from the designer's spec — taking the styled surfaces and rebuilding them as a manufacturable molded housing, one of the largest single parts on the unit — and integrated it with the rest of the housing so the whole enclosure fits the internals it has to protect. This is the unglamorous half of industrial design: honoring the designer's intent down to the surface while making a part a factory can produce.
What changed
The unit went to production and remains one of the distributor's popular products. The designer's rendering survived contact with manufacturing intact, which is the whole job.
